Threatened by change on an unimaginable scale, the creatures of the Field must put aside their differences to avoid losing everything.
Tasmanian-born Freddie Hamilton’s allegorical novel explores climate change, geopolitical polarisation and growing racial divides through the animal world. The Field is our world: its hedgerows, copses and riverbanks represent countries, while its inhabitants face many of the same pressures and conflicts as people do.
Through conquest, conflict and cooperation, the creatures of the Field gradually discover that survival depends upon learning to live together.
